Kim Victoria Cattrall (born August 21 1956) is a British-Canadian actress best known for her role as Samantha Jones in the HBO show Sex and the City for which she received five Emmy Award nominations and four Golden Globe Award nominations winning the 2002 Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress. The same character was played by her in the two films Sex and the City 2008 as well as Sex and the City 2 (2010). In the 80s she was a leading character in Police Academy Big Trouble Little China Mannequin and Porky's. Kim Cattrall's appearance on the HBO television comedy Sex & the City is the most memorable. Cattrall, a noted actor, has been credited with her role as Samantha Jones as a career-defining role. The sitcom didn't just boost her recognition in the national public, but also made her an international star giving an immense amount of recognition and fame. It won an Oscar as well as it was awarded the Golden Palm at the Cannes Film Festival in 1960 and it was a commercial as well as critical hit. Her birthplace was in Sweden, Skane. She did modeling before she started her acting career. The crown was awarded to her Miss Sweden. Following her move to the US she started acting in various films, in small role. In the film Abbott and Costello Go to Mars she was recognized as being a Venusian. In the following year, after starring in Blood Alley she was awarded the Golden Globe in the most promising newcomer category.
